what's your opinion on tattoos / piercings in the workplace? should they be accepted? if so why?
It depends on what the workplace is and what the tattoos are.
Piercings aren’t wrong unless they can get caught on something and hurt you, and tattoos are not wrong unless they’re racist/sexist etc.
If you mean anything other than that there is a 100% chance you’re an asshole.
It’s a good thing that is what I meant :P
But in all honestly, though I don’t have an issue with it, it should be up to the business owner.
It is an unfortunate reality that it does depend on your field, who hires you, and so on. Sucks.
For me as an interpreting student, it’s an issue of clear signing space so I have to wear long sleeves all the time when I sign. That way my art isn’t distracting and nothing takes away from the language.
I cant imagine working in another field so I suck it up. I know that some jobs will be alright with it and some won’t.
I still firmly believe it shouldn’t ever matter though unless you’ve got some seriously racist/sexist/homophobic/etc shit all over you.
